A couple of days into the camp east of Nodden-Torr after the Crimson Calling leaves the time-vault. The evening meal is finished and nobody has moved yet. Alexis tips his hat back off his forehead and turns to Ethelred.
“I’m thinking back to you getting the bomba fruit seed, and planting it in Ty-Lin’s garden. That fruit. It resonated with decadence. It was a tropical fruit in deep winter.”
Alexis looks into the fire.
“Many in the Collegium say that the fey deal in decadence. And Hadonis. Oils. Salves. Somehow he still had dates after 2 years. And a very decadent god.”
Alexis looks up at his companions.
“Many call Sutheron a decadent city, and for good reason. You can get bomba fruits there 3 months of the year.” A slight shrug. “I miss bomba fruits.”
“Do our collegium writings say anything about the ‘school’ of decadence?”
“I have come upon nothing that calls out decadence specifically. I can see how magic could be used to fuel, to make decadence. If one can summon beasts, it must be possible to summon more pleasant creature. Turning honey into mead, grain to beer, grapes to wine… all possible.
Not my particular bent. Seems like a waste.
The closest I have seen would be the philosopher stone. Legendary being able to produce gold from lesser materials. Seems like you could just buy all the decadence one wanted.
I just want better tools…
When you talk of Sutheron and decadence it make me miss Mavon. There was a man who could find a good time. I wonder what he is doing… some many questions to be answered.”
“It would be so good to see our friend again.”
