The group has stopped for lunch after they’ve left the First Gate (but before they encounter Illceros’ Spiders).
Alexis addresses Gustav and Ca’armine. “I’m not sure about you Raiden boys, but these western lands have gotten me thinking more about…” Alexis puts his arms out “the bigger things.”
“You both chose to give up Dauntless” Alexis holds up an apologetic hand to Ca’armine “even though you weren’t fully aware of what that meant” Alexis says to only Ca’armine.
“With some time and space, how are you feeling about the ‘Collegium’ holding such a powerful artifact in your cause?”
Alexis looks between Gustav and Ca’armine.
Gus looks at Alexis with a bit of surprise.
“I feel great about it! Gave it to a group we trust that is likely powerful enough to keep it and hold it. And red cloaks don’t have it. Best idea ever from you Alexis! Or was it Ethelred that thought of it. I forget. But whoever thought of it, that was a great idea!”
As Gustav talks Alexis seems pleased or content by him approving of his plan to donate Dauntless to the Collegium. Alexis looks more serious and empathetic as he turns to Ca’armine “And you?”
Ca’armine bows his head. “I think about the sword, it’s true. I held it in my hand just a moment. I wonder if I had held it longer, would Raiden choose for me to wield it? And wouldn’t that be amazing? But in that moment, I realize, Raiden did not reach out to me through the sword.”
