We reach the strange metal door for the 3rd time. Ethelred turns to Ca’armine.
“Ca’armine you mentioned detecting for keys. I might have been too hasty in dismissing your idea. We have gone through some trouble to get here and not yet found the 3rd key.
Detecting for the 3rd key might be our best option. It would be a shame to leave this area hoping the key is beyond the door we skipped, only to be wrong.
Alexis, what do you think?”
“Good advice. How are you thinking of doing this detection?”
“This isn’t my kind of magic, but if you have something you could try, let’s try it! So far we have encountered a pattern in the rooms we’ve explored, that’s not borne out here, and as you say, it would be frustrating to have to come back this way, especially if the defenses regenerate at some future point.”
“Well there are two possible ways. They would both require moving the 2 keys we have as far away from the person doing the detecting as possible. Locating another key would be one possibility. I can also detect metals. The door and they keys seem to be made from the same material.
So I would say we leave the two keys near to door. Head back to the room with the squares and statues and detect there.
If the key we are looking for is near the door/other keys, then it will be very tricky.”
