Before venturing up the stairs above the Monasterynof the Eagles, Rask approaches Ca’armine:
”Ca’armine, those giants… if it weren’t for you sending me Raiden Blessing in that moment, I’m sure I would be dead. They are… it’s almost like they’re made of stone. Strong like stone too. Getting hit by the boulder they threw wasn’t as bad as the blows they dealt up close.”
Rask is a little nervous. It has been a long time since he last took a beating like the on the stone giants delivered.
”Anyhow, thank you.”
Ca’armine reaches out and puts his hand on Rask’s shoulder, and with a firm grip, coaxes him to stop walking forward and away. “Rask. I appreciate your thanks, and I don’t want to stop you from giving it when it’s due! But truly, I feel that, in the time we’ve traveled and battled together, we have become close friends. There is no way I would let you perish if I had the means to save you.”
He releases Rask, and the two of them look each other in the eyes for a long moment, recognizing in each other, the kinship that has grown between them.
“The same is true for me,” Rask responds at last.
“Of course,” says Ca’armine after a bow of his head, “I would prefer it greatly, if there were less need for you to be saved! As a party leader, Hadonis was a disgrace– conjuring the foes before we had a chance to gain a more advantageous position. It’s a wonder we weren’t all wiped out, he gave them both the high ground and a surprise attack!”
Rask shakes his head in mock sadness. “The poor fellow. True he has a chance now to study the giants up close! Pity he will surely be eaten before he has a chance to tell us what he learns.”
