Owl Speculation

During one of the meals after the group has retreated from the “chaos river of rage and eternal hunger”. The group is discussing the significance of the white owl, while it is not around. This discussion is some time after Alexis has studied the owl with Avv’s sight.

“There is a strong possibility the owl is tied to Hood. And given the weird alliance between Hood and Ty-Lin, if your near-death dreams can be believed Telosh,” Alexis says with obvious good-natured humor in his voice “then perhaps this owl is also connected to Ty-Lin, although hard to imagine how.”

“The dreams I had seemed to have little to do with what scholars and priests call ‘Hood’ and ‘Ty-Lin’.”

  1. “I was on my way to Hood’s gate, and Her White Hawk intervened, and Hood’s Bony hand… acquiesced? Did not reach for me. I believe Hood wanted the part of The Pit that was connected to The Endless Hunger closed. TyLin and Malor are enemies, the ArruNorroth too I think…”

Telosh shakes his head, “The attention of the Gods is… not necessarily a good thing… but perhaps inevitable for heroes…”

He appears a bit saddened, as if this is not what he imagined being a hero would be like.

“What have your dreams been Alexis? Do they connect to the Owl? Have you been able to see if the Owl connected to any of us like you saw the Crow’s connection… ‘s ?”

  2. Alexis thinks about it for a moment. “There is no connection to the owl as we know it; as Gustav knows it. And there is a connection to us with the owl, but not like with Sally. Sally’s connection is clear and strong to Gus. Very ‘persistent’. Very clear. The connection to the owl would be something more similar to…” Alexis tries to think of an analogy “… Utiog’s whip’s connection with Sgt Torrin.”

  3. Telosh thinks deeply for a bit, muttering as he does, clear and enunciated “muttering.”

“Utiog… Lady Sophia, the frozen Raidensblud, whip…”

Telosh looks confused when he meets Alexis’ eyes again.

“Could that connection be strengthened like Gus’ to… Sallycrow?”

    • Alexis raises an eyebrow at what Telosh is suggesting.

“Promise me you won’t try. At least until we know more. … and I’ve given you very. explicit. approval.”

      Alexis looks at Telosh expectantly.

  4. Telosh’s confusion disappears, his expression become serious.

“I promise I will not attempt to strengthen, or manipulate in any way, the connection to the owl without your clear and explicit direction and approval.”
