In camp, well after leaving the area of the chaos magic storms, and after his conversations with Gus and Alexis, Telosh approaches Ethelred while the others are busy elsewhere.
“The ballista is coming along well eh, Red? Looks wicked!”
He looks truly excited about the project, his Westlander accent is showing..
“Do ya think it’ll take the giant out in one shot or should we prepper some follow up measures? More traps maybe?”
“I’ve been tryna figure out how to.. embiggen the deadfall traps that the Gus uses to catch small animals like squirrels, maybe have it set up for a tree or two to fall on the giant?”
“Digging a deep pit might be tough, but a shallow pit with spikes in it could trip the giant up pretty bad… Based on it’s behavior before, I bet it will want to charge at the ballista if it survives the hit…”
“Oh, I should let you talk… I’m getting excited about taking on the giant!”

“One hit was my original goal. But the more I work in this project the more I think it will not be enough.
Have been thinking we might want to try and wound it in a way the it will be …. impaired… bleed out..
This piece of metal I have been sharpening would work better if it has barbs so when it get pulled out it causes more damage. I do not have any metal working tools so that is not possible.
Other option would be to poison the end of the it with something that could infect or hurt the giant.
Other options are to wound it legs or feet, or even it eyes. Something to deal it a blow to tip the advantage to us.
As for dropping trees on it. It seem too strong the be damage by force that isn’t a very large and heavy stone.
If you have any other ideas let me know….”
Telosh nods, thinking about how the giant was able to uproot trees and crash through the forest.
“I think a shallow pit with some fire-hardened wood spike could hurt it’s feet and slow it down… but, yeah, I’m more skeptical about the deadfall idea now…”
“It has weak spots, I can see them, if we could set up a good ambush where it couldn’t defend itself, even with slings you and I could hurt it pretty bad if we hit it in the right spots…”
“Poison on the ballista bolt or on spikes in a pit, or both, could help, but I lost the bolt I kept from Lyr…”
“Yeah, I think we need a really good ambush set up, and hit with the ballista, both of us, and maybe pit too…”
