In a moment with Alexis, when Ethelred is busy elsewhere.
“Alexis, we need more than just the ballista. We were successful with both the dragon and The… Pit because we worked together and because we used more than one…tool.
“we need need to do more that just one thing. Immobilizing it, or at least slowing it down would be good. Spike traps, deadfall, and giant-sized snares too, I bet there are other things we could to do too that I’m not thinking of, but
I’m getting ahead of us though, what do we already know about the giant?
It ignores us if we play dead? At least as long as there are other things for it to worry about. It stinks. It has three arms. It has a lair. What else do we need to know? It’s movement pattern? Where along it’s path is best to set our ambush?
Alexis repeats what Telosh has said ” ‘what do we know about the giant’ “.
“We know that the past attempts at getting to know more about it have been thwarted or corrupted. We have evidence that we have made the Sword Chaotic more powerful, and possibly tied to the undead city. Based on a previous scouting trip we know about Yog.”
“In short, I’m looking forward to when we can have a real scouting trip so I can know the answer to that question. Red needs a purpose for his building itch. He’s welcome to keep building his ballista. Maybe we’ll need it, maybe not.”
Telosh chuckles slightly.
“By no means was I suggesting that Red not work on the ballista, as you said, it could be useful… and I certainly understand the need to scratch an itch…
“It just that when we face something… big… one tool has never been enough. With the dragon we used two steel snares and several methods of hurting it for example. We really should consider adding more traps, even snares made of rope that will slow it down. We might miss with the ballista, or one shot with it might not be enough to finish the giant off…”
“All that said, a scouting mission where we all focus on actually scouting sounds important and… interesting!”
