Lucius looks around at his companions, and his “liege,” stirs the dirt a bit with a stick, and speaks up,
“We’ve done a bit of exploring, and survived a group of outriders, and now the army is moving out of the Copper Hills fort, it seems to me that we’ve kicked the nest a bit already, and there is a strong likelihood Barra will attack the fort soon…
“Red’s suggestion from a few nights ago was a good one, and now that the army is on the move, it seems like it is time to return to the fort and begin to plan for the inevitable. Being in the woods while Barra attacks the fort doesn’t seem like it will help us fr… break the sword.”

“Excellent question Telo… Inha.. Lucius.
What I want to know is what does Barra want? Why is he out here? Who is he working with or for?
I don’t think we have a solid answer on any of these questions. We know that he is keeping close watch on the area around the fort. We have seen signs way down south that the riders are about. We have seen evidence of the riders all through the woods towards the lookout and the mine.
But why? I am assuming Barra wants to attack the fort, but for when end I do not know.
Maybe if we knew more about the attack on the East Pass fort that would help. I don’t recall if Barra has forces still holding that fort. If he does maybe he is there?
We have done a lot of exploring, but we haven’t gathered enough information to really make a solid plan.
My best advice at the moment is to try and gather more information at the fort, scout out a good location to be if Barra’s forces attack the fort and to wait and see.
Trying to actually take the fight to Barra would only make sense if his forces are distracted.”
Alexis strokes the side of his face while Telosh and Red speak. He seems to be looking intently at his bag while all this is going on.
“Red’s right, we don’t have enough information. I’ll take it as a win that somehow Lieutenant Stephanos still lived when we left him last. Aside from that, we still don’t know where the sword is. We don’t even really know if Barra keeps it someplace for safekeeping when he’s not using it on the battlefield.”
“Were Barra’s forces keeping the Aegirians from the mine as a ruse? Or is there something he wants there?”
“Who leads the warg riders on the mound?”
“Which location, if either, holds a stupid lieutenant, and which holds Barra?”
“Are we thinking too small? Instead of taking out the Copper Hills Fort, is he, perhaps, hoping to take out all of Aegir in one stroke? Or does he stumble around blindly because Maglubiyet can’t see?”
“We are treasure-hunters. By my reckoning, there’s a better chance to find treasure in a copper mine than on some lookout hill. That’s where we search next.”
“We should prepare for battle with Wargs. Last time the battle went well for those in the trees. We should all make sure to have sling and some solid bolts.
Beyond that some snares, spikes, nets could also help. Fire could also be an interesting weapon.
Are we planning on actually entering the old mine? Or are we only hoping to scout the area?”
Lucius looks looks at Alexis quizically, and nods a bit as Ethelred speaks, and pauses to look to Gus before responding.
“I doubt the wargs would have stuck around long without prey to harry, nets and snares would be useful there…
“Since it is information we seek, if we do encounter wargs and riders again, perhaps capturing one of the the warg-riders and… talking to them could a fruitful option.”
Lucius looks at Gus to see what his reaction is to the idea of talking with goblins.
Alexis moves to say something, but settles back when he sees Telosh is very interested in Gus’ reply to the statement.
Looking at Lucius…
“I am not saying the same wargs will be waiting for us where we left them. More that almost everywhere we have gone we have seen recent tracks of wargs. Who ever is commanding the wargs and riders is covering a large are with scouts. What are they looking for? What are they keeping an eye on? And what is their relationship with that huge creature we fought? And what are they doing out here?”
Lucius looks confused by Ethelred’s response.
“Yes, those are great questions we should ask a captured goblin.”
The “Sutheroni” glances to Gustav again.
“To be clear, I did not mean that we should lay a trap at the spot we last encounter the wargs, or seek them there. I meant that if we are all up in trees, they won’t stick around long enough to for us to do much damage to them, unless we can snare one or more effectively.”
Still addressing Lucius, as if ignoring Gustav.
“Is our goal to kill wargs and riders? I believe our mission is to break a sword? Also to find treasure?
It would seem the best outcome would be to avoid battle at all costs. We are a small party and most of our skills are not best used in battle.
Capturing a rider is interesting. We could try and set a variation of a rabbit snare. Higher up and bigger.
Interesting….”
Lucius looks to Alexis briefly, and then responds to the Aegerian,
“Yes, a large snare on the ground, hidden by leaves perhaps? To hold the warg, that is an excellent idea! Perhaps a net to capture the rider off it’s back?
“As you say, we should avoid battle as much as possible, if we camp in their territory we should be ready with such a trap and to retreat into the trees to fend off the rest of the patrol.
“Perhaps we should also considering readying a lantern in a branch of one of the trees one of us will climb so we can ensure the scene is well lit for us? Once we drive off the others we can interrogate the goblin and maybe get some answers to our questions.”
Lucius looks to Gus, excited to talk about about building big traps.
